I want this edition. Look how pretty!!
I've read Persuasion many times over the years, and it never gets old. Karen Savage's narration (just over $1 on Libro.fm, or free on YT) is absolutely perfect.
Mr. Elliott notices Anne in Lyme and goes, "Phwoar".
Captain Wentworth notices him noticing and goes, "Yep. Agreed."
A gentle romance set in the early 1800s. Anne Elliott and Frederick Wentworth were engaged, but due to family disapproval, Anne was persuaded to call it off.
Captain Wentworth catches Louisa, who for some reason is at death's door after jumping down off the Cobb. I mean...Yeah, it's pretty high up, but to be ill for months?
Behold the Cobb. Does this look like a jump would nearly kill you?
8 years later, the Elliott fortunes have fallen, Captain Wentworth's have risen, and they come into contact again.
This is the best adaptation of Persuasion. I will not be taking questions at this time. We don't even mention the other one.
Enter William Walter Elliott, with everything going for him, and the Musgrove girls who are lovely and kind.
Shenanigans ensue.
Mr. "I'm a bad man but look good" Elliott.
Anne "People are annoying and need to leave me alone" Elliott
Captain "Half agony half hope" Wentworth.
"Hey girl, take a look at this. It's my beating heart written on some paper."
My favourite Austen book.
...am I insane or did at one point Sir Walter refer to Mr. Elliott as "underhung"?? What on earth does that mean?
