Started off really really good. I had such high hopes. The premise was fascinating and I was hooked.
Then an element was introduced that totally turned me off.
I thought this would be an introspective book that would lead to a satisfying ending.
But no, it had to introduce irritating conflict. Not internal conflict, but the stupid kind with tests and battles so prevalent in YA fiction. Just this week I've come across two books with the same boring trope. UGH.
I'm so sick of really popular books that are so deeply disappointing. Why are they so popular? It's just the same same same.
And it's so disappointing because it *could* have been good. The premise was so original and it could have been a fascinating read.
But no.
So many recommended books out there. So much disappointment. 😞
